Poll shows declining popularity of Yingluck government

BANGKOK, Aug 6 (TNA) - A latest opinion survey by Bangkok University, publicly released on Monday, showed that respondents gave 4.84 points out of total 10 points regarding their satisfaction with the incumbent Yingluck Shinawatra government, but the majority of them, or 70.4 per cent, still wanted the first female Thai prime minister to remain in office. The Yingluck government’s 4.84 score declined by 0.1 point from a previous survey when her administration had worked for six months. The incumbent Thai government received the highest score of 5.32 for its foreign affairs and the lowest score of 4.47 for its law enforcement. The respondents, however, gave 5.31 points out of total 10 on their satisfaction with the prime minister’s performance. The score dropped by 0.02 point from the previous survey. Yingluck’s highest score of 6.10 came from her diligence and her lowest score of 4.75 came from her decisiveness. Although some 70.4 per cent of the respondents wanted the female Puea Thai premier to remainin office, 98 per cent of them said they wanted a new Cabinet reshuffle and 5.2 per cent even wanted Premier Yingluck to resign. Meanwhile, opposition Democrat Party leader Abhisit Vejjajiva told reporters that the opposition camp now plans a censure motion, after the Puea Thai Party-led government reports its one-year work and its 2013 fiscal budget bill is passed by the Parliament.(TNA)
