Presidents of Mongolia and Myanmar make official negotiation
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj and the President of Maynmar U Thein Sein run official negotiations on Monday.
Mr Elbegdorj briefed on Mongolia’s democracy and transition to the free market economy twenty years "ago without any casualty or damage", and added that Mongolia has more to learn from others and more to share with others. "We are willing to broaden relations and cooperation with Myanmar in culture, arts and tourism spheres, as well as ties between the citizens of our countries".
The President Elbegdorj expressed a confidence that this visit will give its fruits to Mongolia-Myanmar relations that have been developing since their establishment in 1956.
"We are ready to develop mining relations with Myanmar and share our experience gained in proper utilization of natural resources, as the both countries have abundant natural wealth," he said. Our countries have great opportunities to boost an educational cooperation that includes an intensified student exchange program, he added.
In his turn, Myanmar President Thein Sein expressed a willingness to cooperate with Mongolia in many sectors. Myanmar strives for closer tourism relations between the citizens of the both countries and hopes that relations in this sector will give vast outcomes, he noted, as the citizens of the two countries have many similarities such as a religion and others.
Furthermore, Mr Sein noted on a possibility of launching a direct flight between the two countries to create a favorable environment for inter-citizens smooth relations. He supported Mongolian President’s offer for more active educational relations, and expressed an interest to develop an expert exchange program that will give our countries’ specialists opportunities to train each other.
The President of Myanmar also shared his opinions on possible mining relations between the countries, saying Mongolia can guide and support his country on the matter, as the former has many-year experience in using technologies. He talked on Myanmar’s facing difficulties in introducing contemporary mining know-how as it "has been limited with Chinese technologies".
He also noted the similarities in mining sector development of the two countries, except for the fact that China dominates in Myanmar’s mining, whereas Mongolia has a greater experience in receiving investments from not only China but also from USA, Canada, Australia and European countries. He expressed a confidence in experience-sharing and consulting between Mongolia and Myanmar on proper utilization of natural resources.
The leader of Mongolia said his country is open to share its mining experience with others, as it overcame many challenges and has acquired instructive experiences in safe mine extraction, and effective distribution of the mining revenues to the people.
The people of our two countries have a long standing historical, cultural and religious connections that we are responsible to develop further, Mr Elbegdorj said.
