Pro-government supporters rally in Bangkok

BANGKOK, May 19 (TNA) - Thousands of supporters of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD) joined Sunday’s Bangkok rally to commemorate the third anniversary of political violence. The so-called ‘Red Shirts’ rally on May 19, 2010 ended as security forces cleared Ratchaprasong intersection of protestors, who occupied the area demanding the ouster of the Abhisit government. It is expected that former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, who is in exile in overseas, will address his supporters at the gathering via Skype Sunday night. Bangkok police said they expected around 40,000 people at the rally, which was expected to end Sunday midnight. (TNA)
