Project on Mongolia’s history lessons presented to President
Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ The President Ts.Elbegdorj received Thursday Dr D.Olziibaatar, a scholar at the Institute of History and Archaeology of the Academy of Sciences, and Dr R.Bat-Erdene, the director of Mongolian State University (MSU).
Dr Olziibaatar spoke about his audio book of 40 hours, created on the archived materials of Mongolian history. "I would like to improve history education among youth, their generation has a strong willingness to know more about the history," he said and added that the audio book is well marketed.
Chief of the President’s Office P.Tsagaan said that the Office, the Academy of Sciences and the MSU want to broadcast online lessons for the public. He added that they had agreed to continue this work if the first six lessons succeed.
Public online lessons have become one of the main indicators for determining the universities’ academic quality. The UNESCO coined the term “open educational resources” in 2002 and organized an international conference in 2012, which first advertized the importance of disclosing the educational sources in the universities and publicizing the educational materials.
First public online lessons will be dedicated to a period of 1910-1915: Decline of the Qing dynasty, Mongolia’s struggle for independence, the Eight Bogdkhan Jivzundamba and patriotic nobilities, influence of the Imperial Russia in Mongolia, striving for confirming the status of All Proclaimed State of Mongolia, and the 1915 Tri-Partite Agreement of Kyakhta. The lessons will be given by Dr Olziibaatar, a distinguished historian and a former leader of the National Archives.
Mr Tsagaan also informed that the development process of the Mongolian Language E-dictionary is going with 30 percent, it will be concluded within this year.
The President underlined an importance of the E-dictionary and of the online history lessons in advertizing our language and history and said he will support the project.
