PROSECUTOR-GENERAL HEADS FOR PANAMA

Ulaanbaatar /MONTSAME/ A Mongolian delegation led by Prosecutor-General D.Dorligjav Wednesday left for Panama to attend an international Anti-corruption conference. The Seventh Annual Conference and General Meeting of the International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities will take place in Panama on November 22-24. This year’s action is to run under theme of "Rule of Law and Anti-Corruption: Challenge and Opportunity". The sub topics are "Anti-Corruption Agencies in a changing world: independence, accountability and transparency", "Striking tigers as well as flies", non-selective anti-corruption law enforcement, Key prevention strategies: the tone at the top, political reform and public participation. The Prosecutor-General is accompanied by a Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Legal Assistance at the General Prosecutor’s Office G.Ganzorig and others. After the Conference, the delegation is to visit Cuba to hold a meeting with Cuban Prosecutor-General Dario Delgado Cura. The sides will explore ways of cooperation. The International Association of Anti-Corruption Authorities is a non-governmental organization established as a result of a special meeting held at the UN Office in Vienna on 19–20 April 2006. Its headquarters is in Beijing, China. The main objective of the organization is to promote the effective implementation of the UN Convention against Corruption, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly on 30 December 2003, and to assist anti-corruption authorities in the world in fighting against corruption. Mongolia ratified the United Nations Convention against Corruption in October 2005.
