Tehran, Oct 23, IRNA – Chairman of the Expediency Council Ayatollah Akbar Hashemi Rafsanjani said attention should be paid to the knowledge-based development, adding that all the developed countries have made progress through the path of knowledge. Speaking at the National Forum on Food Economy on Wednesday afternoon, Ayatollah Rafsanjani pointed to the performance of the Scandinavian countries and said these countries use academic achievements of their scientists which lead them to production. He said the country has newly entered the knowledge-based arena and this has been stressed by the Leader, adding that the Islamic Azad University as one of the academic centers has, since the beginning of its activities, aimed at meeting the country’s demands. Stressing on scientific progress and development, Ayatollah Rafsanjani said a day will come when we can export thoughts or industrial and technical services to the world. However, he added, foreign countries identify Iranian talents and 150 to 180 people leave the country for education abroad annually taking a remarkable amount of hard currency with them.
