Religious Leader Asks Islamic Countries To Expel US Envoys Over Blasphemous Movie

Islamabad, Sept 23, IRNA – Vice-chief of Pakistan’s major religious party on Saturday said the anti-Islam movie has united the Muslims across the world and asked the Muslim nations to expel US ambassadors unless the country bans the movie and tenders apology. Talking to IRNA, vice chief of Jamaat-e-Islami Siraj-ul-Haq said the issue of US made anti-Islam film and publication of blasphemous caricatures by a French magazine should be raised at United Nations (UN) with a strong voice. He added that the film was a conspiracy against Muslims across the world. “The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) must call an emergency meeting to discuss the issue,” the JI leader said. He said that blasphemy of the Prophet of Islam cannot be permitted on the ground of freedom of expression. Religious leader was of the opinion that Pakistan with the help of all Islamic countries should ask the UN to frame law restricting all acts of blasphemy against prophets. “Any attempt to malign the personalities of prophets must be made punishable act,” said the JI leader. Siraj-ul-Haq expressing his views said that sacrilegious movie has raised anti-US sentiment in the entire Muslim world. “The shameful act has proved that US is responsible for unrest in the world and ongoing terrorism,” said the religious leader. He said that western world is afraid of the spread of Islam. “Despite the western propaganda, more people are taking interest in Islam especially after 9/11 incident,” he said. Siraj-ul-Haq said that US made anti-Islam film and publication of blasphemous caricatures have united the Muslim world at single platform. “There is unanimity of views against the movie in the Muslim world,” he noted. He asked the Muslim nations to expel US ambassadors from their states unless the country bans the movie and tenders apology over the shameful act./end
