Resolving political issues of Syrian crisis requires convocation of Geneva 3 - opposition

MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. Resolving political issues of the Syrian crisis requires the convening of the Geneva 3 conference, head of the National Coordination Committee Aref Dalila taking part in the inter-Syrian consultations in Moscow told TASS on Tuesday. "Today we discussed developments in Syria, the effects of the exacerbation of the conflict," he said. "We discussed what steps we should try to take to reach an agreement with the government, to implement measures that will ensure the transition to a new era." According to Dalila, it’s necessary to halt armed struggle and try to return to ordinary peaceful life. "It’s necessary to release prisoners, to help people live in security," the opposition politician said. "This is important for building a new democratic regime, a state where law reigns supreme, where everyone will enjoy equal rights and freedoms." He noted that Tuesday’s meeting was not charged with the task of reaching political decisions, adding that "this has been postponed until the convocation of Geneva-3." "These consultations are not a conference with the participation of all opposition groups and the government, this is an event attended by a number of opposition representatives," Dalila said. "The basic aim is to find a solution to human problems." "Although many issues are basically political, this doesn’t mean that we will deal with political decisions. This requires the convening of Geneva-3," Aref Dalila said. Read more
