Royal endorsement ceremony for new prime minister to be held Monday

BANGKOK, August 24 (TNA) - The royal endorsement ceremony in appointing Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha to become Thailand’s 29th prime minister will be held Monday at 9.55 a.m. at the Royal Thai Army headquarters and not at the Government House as thought earlier. Army officials were on Sunday making the final touch to ensure that the ceremony would be carried out smoothly while more than 150 policemen were on guard in front of the Royal Thai Army headquarters. Meanwhile, construction workers continued to provide more detailed works on every building inside the Government House compound. Gen. Prayuth, leader of the National Council for Peace and Order which seized power in the May 22 and also army chief, was unanimously appointed prime minister on Thursday by members of the National Legislative Assembly.
