Russia-China partnership not aimed against any countries - official
MOSCOW, May 29. /TASS/. The relations between Russia and China are developing on their own basis and do not generate threats to any countries, Russian International Affairs Council (RIAC) Head and former Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov said on Friday.
‘The RIAC head spoke at the opening of a conference entitled: "Russia and China: New Partnership in a Changing World."
"We are witnessing the development of the Russia-China relations of a principally new type that have no precedents in the history of interaction between great powers," Ivanov said.
"The new partnership is not a union of Russia and China against any third countries or coalitions whatsoever and these relations are developing on their own basis and do not generate threats or challenges either to neighboring countries or other great powers," the head of the Russian International Affairs Council said.
Russia and China are supplementing each other in the political, economic and other relations," he said.
"That is why, such partnership cannot imply the presence of the leader and the wingman as frequently was and still is found in world practice," Ivanov said.
"The new partnership implies "a comprehensive nature of interaction, including the problems of security and the problems of development," the RIAC head said.
"The implementation of the main principles and elements of such partnership is of great significance not only for our two countries but also for the evolving system of international relations in the 21st century," he added.
"Russia and China are not going to impose their experience on any one but this experience will surely be useful," he said.
This experience has already been used, considering the development of such institutions as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization and the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) group of the world’s leading emerging economies, the head of the Russian International Affairs Council said.
"It is easy to see the same principles laying the foundation for the Russian-Chinese relations," Ivanov said.
