Russia, China presidents to meet at regional summits - Lavrov

BEIJING, April 15 (Itar-Tass) - The presidents of Russia and China will meet several times this year. Agendas take them to summits of the BRICS developing-nation assembly of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa; to the Shanghai Co-operation Organisation comprising states in Europe, the Near East, Central Asia and South East Asia; and to a summit of Asia-Pacific Economic Co-operation states in Beijing. “Relations between Russia and China have reached an unprecedentedly high level," Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said after talks with Chinese counterpart Wang Yi in Beijing on Tuesday. “This year’s opening meeting was in [Russia's Black Sea resort] Sochi on February 6," he said. "It was the Chinese president’s first visit to Russia, for the Winter Olympics. “Today, we have discussed preparations for this year’s main event, President Putin’s visit to China and his participation at a conference on interaction and co-operation in Central Asia in Shanghai in May,” Lavrov said.
