Russia highly assesses UNIDO work towards industrialization - foreign ministry

MOSCOW, December 2. /TASS/. Russia has highly assessed the work of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO), the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Gennady Gatilov, who is heading the country’s delegation at the 16th UNIDO session, held a meeting with the organisation’s chief Li Young. "Gatilov confirmed Russia’s support for the UNIDO as the leading international organisation for the industrial evolvement questions and highly assessed the results of its work in the promotion of the inclusive and sustainable industrial progress," the statement said. According to the ministry, the sides "have discussed the questions of cooperation between Russia and the UNIDO in accordance with the interest in promoting international development including a number of organisation’s projects financed by Russia." "The sides are interested in the extension of cooperation," the statement said. The five-day general conference of the UNIDO started in Vienna on November 30. The main topic of the session is "Sustainable Industrialization for the Shared Prosperity." Read more
