Russia: Iran Must Be Added To Syria Working Group Members

Moscow, July 11, IRNA – Russian President special envoy in Middle East Affairs and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov said his country believes number of Syria working group should increase and Iran must be added to this group. Bagdanov said on Tuesday that the new meeting of the group can be held in Moscow. The Russian diplomat also expressed regret over the stances of a number of Russian partners in Geneva meeting and lack of presence of Iran as an effective country in solving Syrian crisis. He continued that Lebanon and Jordan, which can play effective roles in settling the crisis, were not present in Geneva talks, either. UN secretary general special envoy in Syria affairs Kofi Annan has also repeatedly underlined Iran’s participation in settling Syria problem is necessary./end
