Russian deputy FM to visit Iran for Syria talks

TEHRAN,April 21(MNA) – Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov is scheduled to travel to Tehran on April 24, according to Iranian Ambassador to Russia Reza Sajjadi. “It will be a two-day trip,” Sajjadi told the Mehr News Agency in an interview published on Saturday. Bogdanov will visit the Iranian capital at the invitation of the Iranian deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian ambassador said. “Political consultations with the Russian Foreign Ministry in various areas, particularly important areas of common concern, including (the issues of) Afghanistan, Iraq, and the Middle East, have always been underway, and this trip will be in line with bilateral talks,” he added. Sajjadi also said, “Russia and Iran have always been concerned about the future of Syria and have been opposed to foreign interference and the imposition of interventions on the Syrian people… And during this trip, this issue will be one of the main topics of discussion. “(And) of course consultations will be held about issues related to the Middle East, Libya, and Bahrain, which are significant issues of common concern between Iran and Russia.” Iran’s nuclear chief to attend nuclear conference in Russia Elsewhere in his remarks, the ambassador announced that Atomic Energy Organization of Iran Director Fereydoun Abbasi would visit Russia in early summer to attend a nuclear conference.
