Russian, Indian, Chinese foreign ministers to suggest country leaders holding unofficial summit - Lavrov
WUZHEN /China/, February 27. /TASS/. The Russian, Indian and Chinese foreign ministers will recommend the leaders of the three countries holding an unofficial meeting on the sidelines of one of the upcoming international forums, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said at a joint news conference after negotiations with his counterparts from India and China.
"We will report to our leaders on the work we did and will suggest holding an informal meeting of the leaders of the RIC countries (Russia, India and China) on the sidelines of one of the upcoming multilateral events," he noted.
The Russian minister reported that during the negotiations the sides "agreed to work to extend the prospects and cooperation within the ‘Three’ through spheres and areas of cooperation which are of mutual interest." "In particular, we recognized as useful the contacts between the secretariats of the security councils, between financial intelligence services, as well as regular meetings of members of academic circles and youth forums," Lavrov added. "Another youth forum of the RIC countries will be held in Russia this year. We will also study the possibility of forming a mechanism for meetings of defense ministers."
Chinese Minister of Foreign Affairs Wang Yi supported these initiatives.
