Safavi: Iran To Use Every Means To Defend Country If Threatened

Tehran, Jan 17, IRNA – Supreme Leader's Senior Advisor for Military Affairs Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi said Iran will use every means to defend its national interests if it feels endangered in any way. Noting that the Strait of Hormuz is a strategic waterway for global trade and energy, he pointed out that about 15-17 million barrels of oil which literally accounts for 23-28 percent of the world’s oil output pass through this waterway every day. He further described Iran as the most powerful country in the region. Iran enjoys the longest coastline in north of the Persian Gulf and the Sea of Oman, which is 2,025 kms, he said, adding that it is virtually considered as a country which provides and maintains oil security in the world./end
