Salehi Urges Removal Of Minor Impediments To Expansion Of Tehran-Kabul Ties

Tehran, Sept 6, IRNA – Foreign Minister, Ali Akbar Salehi, on Wednesday called for removal of minor impediments on the way of expansion of Iran-Afghanistan relations. Speaking to Afghan President Hamed Karzai on the sidelines of the fourth session of Iran-Afghanistan Joint Economic Cooperation Commission on Wednesday, Salehi thanked Karzai for his presence at the head of a high-ranking delegation in the 16th NAM Summit and conveyed President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad’s warm greetings to his Afghan counterpart. He said continued exchange of delegations by Iran and Afghanistan will give an impetus to development of of bilateral relations. Karzai, for his part, conveyed his greetings to Supreme Leader of Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei and President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, calling the 16th NAM Summit, held in Tehran, as an “important” event. Karzai too agreed that exchange of delegations and consultations on bilateral and regional subjects are of great importance./end
