Security officials map out plans for New Year's festival period
BANGKOK, Dec 8 (TNA) -- Concerned officials have been assigned to prepare measures to prevent traffic accidents and those which might affect security from now on until the upcoming New Year’s holidays, said a spokesman of the Defence Ministry.
The spokesman said Deputy Prime Minister/Defence Minister General Prawit Wongsuwon has ordered government security offices to prepare measures in providing security and reduce road traffic accidents during the upcoming New Year’s holidays.
A meeting is scheduled to be held next Thursday at the Defence Ministry to discuss necessary measures, the spokesman said.
Millions of New Year’s revelers are expected to leave Bangkok for holidays or visiting relatives and friends during a four-day long New Year’s Eve, starting from this December 30.
According to the spokesman, Gen Prawit has ordered related security officials to strictly enforce the law, especially on preventing problems from reoccurring to reduce the loss of people’s lives and property. (TNA)
