Senior Iranian lawmaker visits Syria

TEHRAN,April 22(MNA) – Senior Iranian MP Alaeddin Boroujerdi left Tehran for Syria late on Saturday to hold talks with Syrian officials about regional issues, including the two-year-old crisis in the Arab country. MPs Esmaeil Kowsari, Laleh Eftekhari, Qassem Jafari, and Morteza Hosseini are accompanying Boroujerdi, the chairman of the Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Committee, during his two-day visit to Syria. He was scheduled to meet a number of Syrian officials, including Foreign Minister Walid Muallem, on Sunday. Boroujerdi, whose trip to Syria is aimed at strengthening parliamentary relations between the two countries, will hold a meeting with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad on Monday.
