Seyyed Hassan Khomeini Meets President-elect Rowhani

Tehran, June 29, IRNA – Late Imamˈs grandson and guardian of his mausoleum Seyyed Hassan Khomeini here Friday morning met and conferred with President-elect Hassan Rowhani. According to the information website of President-elect Rowhani, Hojjatoleslam Khomeini in his Friday morning meeting with Hojjatoleslam Rowhani congratulated him once again, and talked with him on his plans for heeding the countryˈs executive affairs in the course of the next four years. On Friday election, Rowhani secured 18,613,329 votes and was elected as Iran’s new president. He will officially take office on August 3 after taking oath and receiving a decree from Supreme Leader Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei Rowhani will succeed incumbent President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the seventh president of the Islamic Republic. Seyyed Hassan Khomeini (born on December 3rd, 1972) is a mid-ranking cleric. He is the grandson of the founder of the late Rouhollah Khomeini, and son of the late Hojjatoleslam Seyyed Ahmad Khomeini. His mother is Fatemeh Tabatabaˈie. Of Khomeiniˈs 15 grandchildren he has been called ˈthe most prominentˈ and the one ˈwho many think could have a promising political future.ˈ He is in charge of Mausoleum of Khomeini where his grandfather and father are buried, and has had official meetings with officials such as Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah.
