Singaporean prime minister to visit Russia in May - Russian lawmaker

SINGAPORE, March 16. /TASS/. Singapore’s Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will pay an official visit to Moscow in May, Russian Federation Council Speaker Valentina Matviyenko told reporters on Wednesday. "It is very important that official visit of (Singapore’s) prime minister to Russia scheduled for May 19 is being prepared now," Matviyenko said. "After that, he will participate in the anniversary summit of the heads of state of Russia and ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) countries," she added. Matviyenko previously held separate talks with Singapore’s president and prime minister. "You know, I was surprised how informed both of them were about the details of Russian-Singaporean relations," she said. For Russia, Singapore is "a very important and promising partner in Southeast Asia both bilaterally and considering the role and influence of Singapore in the region," the speaker noted. "This is a very important dialogue partner on many international and regional problems, security issues," she concluded. Read more
