Speaker Urges UN To Pursue Palestinians Rights Instead Of Playing Political Games

Tehran, Oct 24, IRNA – Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani here on Wednesday called on the United Nations to help fulfill Palestinians' rights and not play political games. Addressing the Majlis open session, Larijani criticized the UN approach regarding the human rights. He said the international body should follow up restoration of the rights of the Palestinians whose country has been occupied by the Zionist regime for decades. Referring to the recent report by the UN special rapporteur for human rights in Iran Ahmed Shaheed, Larijani said the report was against the UN regulations. He then described the report as an attempt to propagate international insurgency. Larijani regretted that the UN rapporteur in his report has not considered insult to religious leaders as an offense. The Majlis speaker condemned double standard policies adopted by certain world states and international organizations./end
