Sudan calls for expansion of ties with Iran

TEHRAN,Jan.23(MNA) – Sudan’s Vice President Ali Osman Taha called for the expansion of economic, political, and cultural relations between Tehran and Khartoum, saying that Sudan welcomes Iranian investors. Taha made the remarks during a meeting with Iranian Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani on Tuesday on the sidelines of the eighth General Assembly Meeting of the Islamic Inter-Parliamentary Union in Khartoum. Iranian investors can make investment in Sudan in the areas of agricultural industries and road and bridge construction, he said. He also expressed hope that Sudan would be able to use Iran’s scientific capability. Larijani also said that the relationship between Iran and Sudan has flourished after Iran’s Islamic Revolution of 1979 because the two countries have similar views about religious and other issues. Commenting on regional developments, the Iranian official said that regional issues should be resolved through political solutions, adding that Iran is opposed to outsiders’ intervention in the region.
