Supreme Leader calls on presidential candidates to tell the truth

TEHRAN,Mey 30(MNA) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei called on presidential candidates to make comments based on the realities on the ground and correct information. The Leader made the remarks during a meeting with members of the parliament in Tehran on Wednesday, which was held at the end of the first year of the four-year term of the ninth Majlis. “Presidential candidates must only tell the truth to the people; the truth about the country’s situation and the truth about themselves,” Ayatollah Khamenei said. He added that candidates’ remarks must be sincere and based on correct information. The Leader went on to say that a high turnout for the 11th presidential election, which is scheduled to be held on June 14, would guarantee the country’s security and would help protect it against the enemies’ threats. Elsewhere in his remarks, the Leader called for close cooperation between the legislative and executive branches of government, calling on both to uphold the law. “The legislative and executive branches have certain authorities and rights under the law and must observe the boundaries and closely cooperate with each other,” Ayatollah Khamenei stated. It is natural that the Majlis and the administration may have some disagreements about some issues, but these disagreements should not undermine their relationship, he added.
