Supreme Leader grants clemency to 1298 prisoners

TEHRAN,Jan.30(MNA) – Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei issued a decree on Monday granting amnesty to some prisoners and reducing the sentences of a number of others. Earlier, Judiciary Chief Ayatollah Sadeq Amoli Larijani had written a letter to the Supreme Leader in which he made a proposal to grant clemency to 1298 convicts on the occasion of the birthday anniversary of Prophet Muhammad (S), which was celebrated on Tuesday.
