Syria’s opposition agrees in Moscow common document for talks with Damascus

MOSCOW, April 7. /TASS/. Syria’s opposition delegates taking part in the intra-Syrian consultations in Moscow have agreed a common document to be presented at a meeting with the government delegation on April 8, Samir Aita, a member of the Syrian Democratic Forum, told TASS on Tuesday. "There is a common document which includes various elements, including political and humanitarian aspects," he said. "It is a big progress." "Representatives of the opposition have also agreed that they will voice their comments on the document at a meeting with the governmental delegation on April 8," he said. "We expect the meeting with the government to outline a mechanism of the implementation of liabilities undertaken at the previous consultations in January and of possible new liabilities that might be undertaken during this round," Aita added. Fateh Jamous, a member of the Peaceful Change Forces Coalition, said the current round of consultations had been more productive than that in January. "Former experience was taken into account. That is why a common document was agreed. The document specifies the role of civil society in the crisis settlement. Also, an agreement was reached to give an opportunity to each participant in consultations to speak up his remarks about the document," he said. Read more
