Syria Speaker Lashes Out At Certain Muslim Countries For Helping Terrorists

Tehran, Feb 19, IRNA -- Syriaˈs Parliament Speaker Mohammad Jihad al-Laham criticized certain Islamic states for supporting terrorists operating in Syria, saying that they spend billions of dollars to kill Muslims and mobilize seditious bands against the Syrian nation. He made the remarks on the first day of the ongoing meeting of the Parliamentary Union of Organization of Islamic Cooperation (PUOIC). The Syrian nation is seriously fighting the international terrorism, he said, noting that Syria is engaged in a world war launched by its neighbors which have destroyed the countryˈs infrastructures with the help of the West and US. ˈOur country is an example of co-existence between the tribes and ethnic groups,ˈ he said. Such acts are aimed at questioning legitimacy of the Syrian government, he said, underlining that they are against the UN and OIC charters. Condemning the military interferences in the country, Jihad al-Laham added that neighboring states are dispatching terrorist groups to the country to fight the Syrian nation and government. Recalling that some 40,000 militants from 83 countries are fighting in the country, he noted that this is while PUOIC has committed to promote Islamic values and dialog among civilizations./end
