Tehran NAM Meet, Golden Opportunity - Iraqi Envoy

Tehran, Aug 25, IRNA – Iraqi Ambassador to Tehran Mohammed Majeed al-Sheikh described the upcoming Tehran NAM Summit as a golden opportunity for resolving global and regional problems. In an exclusive interview with IRNA, the Iraqi envoy said his country is to attend the 16th Non-Aligned Movement Summit meeting in the Iranian capital at the highest level. He referred to the issue of Palestine as one of the important regional questions, urging the NAM meeting to play active role in reviving the violated rights of the oppressed Palestinians. Pointing to the NAM meeting in Tehran as a significant event, the Iraqi official said it can play a leading role in directing the awakening movement. He then called on the NAM member countries to take part in the Tehran meeting in order to hold serious talks on elimination of the nuclear weapons all over the world. The 16th NAM Summit meeting is slated for August 26-31. The event will be held at three experts, ministerial and summit levels./end
