Tehran official cancels Riyadh trip in protest to Saudi execution of Iranian inmates

TEHRAN, June 14 (MNA) – A planned visit of an Iranian Foreign Ministry official to Saudi Arabia was cancelled over the execution of a number of Iranian prisoners in the Saudi kingdom. Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was scheduled to make a trip to Riyadh on Wednesday to meet with Saudi Foreign Minister Saud al-Faisal. The Iranian nationals who were executed in Saudi Arabia had been sentenced to death for alleged involvement in drug trafficking. The Iranian Foreign Ministry has strongly condemned the execution of the nationals and said the action will have political repercussions for the Arab kingdom.
