Tehran summit can help promote unity in the world: Omani FM

TEHRAN,Aug.30(MNA) – Omani Foreign Minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah said that the summit of the Non-Aligned Movement in Tehran can pave the way for unity among countries.
The Omani foreign minister Yusuf bin Alawi bin Abdallah, stated, “The fact that the 16th Summit of the Non-Aligned Movement is being held in Iran creates favorable conditions for the unity among member countries.”
He also said that the special envoy of Oman’s Sultan Qaboos arrived in Tehran on Wednesday to partake in the summit.
The Omani foreign minister arrived in Tehran on Tuesday to participate in the two-day NAM foreign ministerial meetings.
He told reporters that he is happy about the gathering of NAM member countries in Iran and believes without a doubt that this gathering is of extreme importance, especially given the current global situation.
The Omani foreign minister added, “I am optimistic that after the conclusion of the summit, measures will be taken in order to serve humanity and to establish stability within nations.”
He specified that NAM member countries play a significant role in global governance.
Abdallah added, “We hope for the ratification of the resolutions and propositions, which are on the agenda.”
Over one hundred countries have sent representatives to the NAM summit, which kicked off with an expert-level meeting on August 26th. The two-day foreign ministerial meetings began on August 28th, and the summit of the heads of state and government will open on August 30th.
