Tehran Times and Zambia’s Daily Mail sign cooperation agreement

TEHRAN,Sept.5(MNA) – Tehran Times Managing Director Reza Moqaddasi and Isaac Chipampe, the managing director of Zambia’s Daily Mail, signed a cooperation agreement with the goal of improving socio-cultural relations between Iran and Zambia. According to the agreement, the two newspapers will publish some of each other’s cultural, social, national, and international reports, organize joint cultural programs, and share photos. The Zambia Daily Mail is a limited company, which is wholly owned by the government of the Republic of Zambia. It is one of the leading publishers of daily newspapers in Zambia. The history of the Zambia Daily Mail Limited dates back to the 1950s, and its daily circulation now stands at 20,000 according to its website (www.daily-mail.co.zm). The Republic of Zambia is a landlocked country in Southern Africa. The capital city is Lusaka, located in the south-central part of the country. The population is concentrated mainly around Lusaka in the south and the Copperbelt Province to the northwest. It is the 38th largest country in the world. It is less than half the size of Iran. It has a population of about 13 million, ranking 72nd in the world. It has fairly low population density. Zambia is approximately 87% Christian and 1% Muslim, and the rest of the people have traditional beliefs. The country’s official language is English, but over 70 different languages and regional dialects are also spoken. Zambia declared its independence from the United Kingdom in 1964, after being a British colony since the end of the 19th century. In 2010, the World Bank named Zambia one of the world’s fastest economically reformed countries. The Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) is headquartered in Lusaka. Zambia is also a member of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). Zambia’s main major exportable commodities include copper, cobalt, tobacco, and cotton.
