Thai EC elects new chairman

BANGKOK, December 7 (TNA) - The Election Commission of Thailand or EC has unanimously elected Su-pa-chai Som-cha-roen as the new chairman. The five election commissioners designate, including Supachai, held their first closed-door meeting as stipulated by the Constitution on Saturday (Dec 7) and unanimously elected Supachai as the new EC chairman. All the five will take up their posts after their elections are approved by His Majesty the King in a royal command. Supachai told reporters after his election that the new EC will perform duty honestly and unity. Supachai said a fresh general election can be held in time in case of any political accident, no matter because of a House dissolution or the prime minister's resignation. (TNA)
