Thai embassy in Jakarta operates hotline
BANGKOK, Jan 16 (TNA) -- Thai citizens could reach the Thai embassy in Indonesia for help around the clock via its hotline number following the bomb explosions and gunfire attacks in Jakarta on Jan 14.
Sek Wannamethee, the spokesman of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, identified the embassy’s hotline number as +62 811186253.
The embassy did not issue warning for Thai people from visiting the Indonesian capital as most Thai travelers to Indonesia went to Bali, Mr Sek said.
There had not been an impact on Thai people’s trips to Indonesia but Thai travelers there should note the phone number of the embassy or inform it of their names and places of accommodation, he said.
Mr Sek did not think that the terrorist attacks in Jakarta would affect cooperation among ASEAN member states.
ASEAN members were exchanging intelligence reports and the Royal Thai Police stepped up protection for the Indonesian embassy in Thailand, the spokesman said. (TNA)
