Thai FM to attend Asean-US Foreign Ministers Meeting

BANGKOK, May 3 (TNA) – Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai is scheduled to attend the special ASEAN-US Foreign Ministers meeting in the US capital, ahead of more formal meetings in August in the Philippines. The meeting is scheduled on May 4 at noon local time, said Foreign ministry spokesman, Bussadee Santipitak. The meeting between US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson and his ASEAN counterparts would be an opportunity to exchange views on regional and international issues, the spokesman said. This year also marks the 40th anniversary of the establishment of the ASEAN-US dialogue relations. Lt Gen HR McMaster, US National Security Advisor will participate in a high level roundtable discussion ASEAN foreign ministers and the meeting with the private sector, to be held by the US-ASEAN Business Council. Meanwhile, Thai foreign minister will hold a bilateral talk with US Secretary of State and will also meet Ed Royce, House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman, Ted Yoho, Asia and the Pacific Subcommittee Chairman and Cory Gardner, chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on East Asia, the Pacific, and International Cybersecurity.
