Thai government moves to prevent students from becoming drug addicts

BANGKOK, March 4 (TNA) - The coalition government of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra is putting efforts to prevent students, especially those secondary students from taking drug while traffickers continue to smuggle narcotics from neighbouring countries into the kingdom. Yingluck presided over the Drug Abuse Resistance Education fair held at Supalachaisai Stadium this morning, aimed at persuading students to stay away from drug. Students paraded and vowed that they would not get themselves involved in narcotics. Several anti-drug concerned agencies also participated in the fair. Yingluck said during the fair that her government would put effort in preventing youths from becoming addicts while ordering concerned government agencies to accelerate on suppressing drug problem. Meanwhile, rangers in Nong Khai province bordering Laos late Saturday arrested two women and seized 790 pills of methamphetamine and their car. The two alleged traffickers who are from Khon Kaen reportedly told police investigators that they were hired to smuggle the seized drug from Laos and received 10,000 baht. They said they had smuggled drug three times earlier before they were apprehended. (TNA)
