Thai PM’s Office website hacked

BANGKOK, May 28 (TNA) - An official website of the Government House in Bangkok has been hacked by the “Unlimited Hack Team”, as it has later announced, and has, thus, been temporarily closed for a probe. The “Unlimited Hack Team” reportedly hacked the personal profiles of Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her Cabinet members on the [www.opm.go.th] website, run by the Permanent Secretary for the Prime Minister's Office on Wednesday and posted a photo of the prime minister with a rude English message. Suranand Vejjajiva, Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, told reporters that he has informed the Permanent Secretary for the Prime Minister's Office, who has been on an official trip overseas, and the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) of the incident and the ICT Ministry has been tracing for the hack team. Suranand said he wondered whether the hackers were teenagers who wanted to test their limits or people with political motives, but hacking into the official website was definitely improper, as the website was run for disseminating government information for public interests, not for political objectives. ICT Minister Anudith Nakornthap then confirmed that concerned officials were checking the origin of the hacking, including the source of a news agency which, reportedly, first spotted the hacked website and claimed to have received information from a Twitter user suspected to have involved in the illegal act. Government Spokesman Tosaporn Serirak noted that the hacking group apparently had ill intention against the government and concerned officials have been ordered to protect other government websites, including [www.thaigov.go.th], from hacking.
