Thai PM urges close connection in ASEAN+3 summit

MANILA, Nov 14 – Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha attended the ASEAN Plus 3 meeting, proposing close connection among members in ASEAN and East Asia while calling for more investment from the Plus 3 countries in ASEAN, which will be transformed into the single market and production base. On the last day of the 31st ASEAN summit in Manila, the Philippines, Gen Prayut also attended the 20th ASEAN plus 3 meeting, in which ASEAN meets its partners – China, Japan and South Korea. The Thai prime minister in his statement praised the success of the cooperation in the framework of ASEAN plus 3 in the past 20 years. Thailand is ready to support a clear vision for moving forward in the next 20 years. He viewed that the Plus 3 countries should increase trade and investment in ASEAN to benefit from its policy to become the single market and production base and he looked forward to closer cooperation in technology transfer and other fields to be fundamental of the economic integration in the long term.
