Thailand, Australia tighten defence ties

BANGKOK, April 24 (TNA) -- Thailand Australia Australian army chief Lt-General Angus Campbell visits Thailand to strengthen defence bilateral relationships. Lt General Campbell met with Thai Deputy Minister of Defence General Chaicharn Changmongkol at the Royal Thai Army’s Headquarters on Monday during his official visit from April 22-25. The Australian army chief discussed about Australia’s bid to become an ASEAN dialogue partner as well mutual commitment as security partners. He later held talks with General Chalermchai Sitthisart, Commander-in-chief of the Thai Army, who hosted a Guard of Honor Inspection. They discussed military relationship between Australia and Thailand covering collective security. Lt General Campbell will attend the Anzac Day dawn service and commemorative service at a War Cemetery in Kanchanaburi province on Wednesday. (TNA)
