Thailand donates 5 mllion baht to Japanese flood, landslide victims

BANGKOK, July 16 (TNA) -- Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha today presented 5 million baht in donations to Japanese Ambassador Shiro Satoshima for the victims of flood and landslide victims in the western part of Japan. On behalf of the government and the Thai people, Gen Prayut expressed sorrow and regret for the victims of the flood and landslides that was caused by heavy sustained rains in western Japan since July 5. The number of major landslides resulted in the biggest loss of life, missing persons and evacuations in 30 years for Japan. Gen Prayut personally extended Thailand's support for Japan and was confident that the Japanese government would be able to quickly recover from the natural disaster. The Japanese Ambassador responded with his heartfelt thanks for the Thai people and assured that the funds will be quickly used to provide immediate aid to victims whose needs are the most pressing.
