Thailand proposes to host 2026 Youth Olympic Games
BANGKOK, April 17 (TNA) – Thailand proposed to host the 2026 Olympic Games to the president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) during his official visit to Thailand.
Government spokesman, Weerachon Sukondhapatipak said Prime Minister Gen Prayut Chan-ocha welcomed IOC president, Thomas Bach, thanking IOC for support Thailand to show potential in sport management to the international sport community.
In this regard, Gen Prayut proposed that Thailand is willing to host the 2026 Olympic Games, saying Thailand is confident that with the experience in holding many international sport events, the country will be able to host the Youth Olympic Games.
Thailand is gearing up to develop sport facilities, particularly sport training centers to become the sport hub in the region and the Thai government also promotes sport tourism, he said.
Gen Prayut also took this opportunity to ask for the OIC president support to add Thai boxing in the 2024 Olympics in Paris, said the deputy spokesman.
The OIC president said he was glad to visit Thailand officially for attending the SportAccord 2018. He also visited the Sport Science Center at the Sports Authority of Thailand and he saw Thailand’s potential in hosting the Youth Olympic Games. (TNA)
