Thailand will promote economic corridor connection in the Lancang-Mekong forum

BANGKOK, Dec 5 (TNA) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs will accompany the prime minister to attend the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation forum in Cambodia on Jan 10 and will promote connected economic corridors for sustainable development. Busadee Santipitaks, spokesperson of the Foreign Ministry, said Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai would attend the 2nd forum of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation in Phnom Penh. Cambodia and China will co-chair the meeting that will review past activities of participating countries and set future actions. The meeting would approve a five-year action plan of the Lancang-Mekong Cooperation and the Phnom Penh Declaration that would call for the social and economic development of people in the Mekong River Basin, Ms Busadee said. On the occasion, Thailand would propose the connection of economic corridors in the region so that it would become a centre of economic and sustainable development. Besides, Thailand would call for innovation, water management and the industrial development that would relate to projects in its Eastern Economic Corridor plan, she said. (TNA)
