Three terrorists hanged in Iran

TEHRAN,Oct.22(MNA) – Three members of a terrorist group were hanged early on Sunday morning in Zahedan, the capital city of the southeastern Iranian province of Sistan and Baluchestan. “Two of the terrorists, named Abdoljali Kahrazehi and Yahya Charizehi, had been involved in a terrorist attack in Chabahar on Tasu’a in 1389, which killed 38 people and injured 108 Shia and Sunni people,” Zahedan Prosecutor General Mohammad Marziyeh told the Persian service of the Mehr News Agency on Sunday. Marziyeh was referring to the incident that occurred on December 15, 2010, in which a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device outside a mosque in Chabahar in Sistan and Baluchestan Province during a Shia religious ceremony held to commemorate Tasu’a. Tasu’a is the ninth day of the lunar month of Muharram and the day Hazrat Abbas (AS) was martyred, and is one day before Ashura, which is the day Imam Hussein (AS) was martyred. The Zahedan prosecutor general added, “The third person, named Abdolbaset Rigi had been directly involved in the Zahedan Grand Mosque terrorist attacks.” On July 15, 2010, two bombs were detonated in quick succession in front of the Zahedan Grand Mosque. Twenty-seven people were killed and about 300 others were injured in the incident. The terrorist group Jundullah claimed responsibility for the attacks. In a statement posted on its website, Jundullah described the attacks as retaliation for the execution of the group’s former ringleader, Abdolmalek Rigi, in Iran on June 21, 2010. During the interview, Marziyeh also said, “Those people who are members of terrorist groups, on condition that they do not have anyone’s blood on their hands, can refer to legal authorities,” and they will be granted Islamic clemency and safe conduct. Sistan and Baluchestan Province, which borders Afghanistan and Pakistan, has experienced numerous terrorist attacks over the past years. Some parts of Pakistan have become safe havens for terrorist groups who seek to destabilize Iran’s border regions. After launching their attacks in Iranian territory, they flee across the border into Pakistan.
