Turkey condemns attack on U.S. embassy in Sarajevo

ANKARA (A.A) - October 31, 2011 - Turkey strongly condemned the armed attack which was staged on the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo on October 28. Releasing a statement on Sunday, Turkish Foreign Ministry said, "we strongly condemn the armed attack occurred on October 28 against the U.S. Embassy in Sarajevo. We wish quick recovery to the injured security officer, and welcome the arrest of the perpetrator right after that attack." "We consider this shameful attack as an act of violence targeting not only the brotherly and friendly nation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the common values of this country, but also its friends," noted the ministry. "On this occasion, we would like to reiterate our firm commitment towards sovereignty and territorial integrity of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and towards having a functioning state structure within its internationally recognized borders. We also wish to invite all local political leaders to solve the problems of the country with common sense and restraint, and within the spirit of cooperation," said the ministry.
