Turkey does not want to be Trojan horse of Europe, Turkish chief negotiator says
LJUBLJANA (A.A) - 15.04.2011 - Turkey's chief negotiator said on Thursday that Turkey did not want to be the Trojan horse of Europe.
Turkish State Minister & Chief Negotiator Egemen Bagis, speaking before watching the performance of "The Fire of Anatolia-Troy" at Arena Stozice in Ljubljana, Slovenia gave information about the performance. He said, "individual ambitions and lack of vision dragged people to war even unwillingly".
Addressing nearly 5,000 people, Bagis said the dance in the performance symbolized turning of the wars into peace.
Bagis said Turkey's EU membership was the biggest peace project of the era, and added Turkey did not want to be the Trojan horse of Europe.
"On the contrary, we want to agree with everybody, contact with them and contribute to them by producing solutions to problems of Europe," Bagis said.
Bagis said Fire of Anatolia symbolized vividness, fire and dynamism of Anatolia, "Turkey's EU membership will add dynamism to the union," he said.
Formal talks of Bagis will begin on Friday. He will meet the Slovenian president, prime minister, parliament speaker and EU commission members of the parliament.
