Turkey, France to cooperate for more stable growth
ANKARA (A.A) - 25.02.2011 - Turkey and France expressed their commitment on Friday to cooperate for a more robust and stable growth, a prime ministry statement said.
French President Nicholas Sarkozy and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan had a meeting on the sidelines of Sarkozy's visit to Turkey as the current president of the G-20.
During their meeting, Erdogan and Sarkozy expressed their commitment to cooperate in order to eliminate global economic imbalance, ensure a more robust and stable growth, and to increase employment in the world.
The two countries once more reaffirmed that they would continue working for coordination of economic and financial policies within the G-20.
According to the prime ministry statement, Turkey is extending full support to preparations for the G-20 summit to take place in Cannes, France on November 3-4.
France and Turkey have welcomed the progress in financial arrangements within the G-20 geography, and underlined importance of full implementation of decisions by G-20 countries.
The two countries have once more reiterated that countries should rearrange their financial system without any deficiencies in order to prevent any crisis.
France and Turkey have also highlighted importance of an international monetary system reform in order to strengthen the system and eliminate fluctuations and instability.
"The two countries welcome G-20's move to discuss better audit and arrangement of energy market and agricultural product market," the statement said.
It also said Turkey and France expressed their expectation that progress be made in arranging financial markets, making markets more transparent, and increasing food safety.
France and Turkey reaffirmed their support to G-20's approach to trade, and underlined importance of completion of Doha negotiations as soon as possible.
The two leaders have also welcomed adoption of a development action plan at the G-20 summit in Seoul.
