Turkey, Mauritania sign health cooperation deal

ANKARA (A.A) - December 14, 2011 - Turkey and Mauritania signed on Wednesday a cooperation agreement in health and medicine. Speaking in the signature ceremony in Ankara, Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag said that Turkish experts would train experts in Mauritania. "We will contribute to efforts to reduce mother and child mortality and emergency health services in Mauritania," Akdag said. Akdag said Turkish experts would help improve health system in Mauritania with their experiences. Also speaking in the ceremony, Mauritania's Health Minister Housseynou Hamady Ba said Turkish businessmen could invest in pharmaceutical factory construction and hospital equipment in his country. Ba said health insurance rate was only 6 percent in Mauritania, adding that his country needed malaria medicines.
