IS IT GOOD NOW?
Turkey has entered a new period with high hopes. A consensus would be reached, a new Constitution would be prepared, and Kurdish problem would be solved. However, at first, Higher Board of Election (YSK) decided to abolish the deputyship of independent parliamentarian Hatip Dicle. Then, yesterday, Prof. Mehmet Haberal and journalist Mustafa Balbay's demands of release were rejected with two against one vote. Tension escalated.
WE WON'T ENTER PARLIAMENT
35 independent deputies, who held an extraordinary meeting after YSK abolished Hatip Dicle's deputyship, decided not to enter the Parliament until a concrete step is taken. They said, "we won't go to Parliament even if one person is absent." Serafettin Elci, who announced the joint decision, said, "we will not go to the Parliament until a concrete step, which will open the road of democratic politics, is taken." Protests were held in the southeastern province of Diyarbakir, western province of Izmir and Istanbul.

Following the developments regarding independent deputy Hatip Dicle; Mehmet Haberal and Mustafa Balbay's way to parliament has also been blocked by "two votes". Republican People's Party (CHP) is considering not to attend the upcoming oath-taking ceremony at the parliament. As the 13th High Criminal Court of Istanbul rejected Haberal and Balbay's release demands, the two deputies' attorneys have decided to carry the issue to the supreme court.
BOYCOTT FROM BDP
Candidates of the Labor, Democracy and Freedom Block will not go to the parliament in a move to protest the decision stripping independent Diyarbakir deputy Hatip Dicle of his seat in the parliament. WHAT IS THE CRIME OF THE VOTER?
50 million voters made their choices on June 12 by looking at the voting paper prepared by Turkey's Election Board (YSK). However, three parliamentarians could not be released from prison because of the obstacles put forth by YSK. The Parliament will be opened with 37 empty seats after the boycott decision of Peace & Democracy Party (BDP). Thus, choices of 2.5 million electors will be disregarded.
