Turkey's development agency to open water wells in Mogadishu

MOGADISHU (A.A) - August 15, 2011 - Turkey's Development and Cooperation Agency or TIKA is set to open deep and semi-deep water wells in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, and in other cities of the country in a project over the next two years, TIKA's Africa coordinator said.
"Just because they can't access to fresh water, around 25 children die here everyday. We will open water wells first in Mogadishu and then in every major settlement here. We will finish the project in two years," Cuneyt Esmer told the Anadolu Agency.
Esmer said TIKA was also set to build six field hospitals in Somalia as well as five ambulances.
