Turkish aid ship set to sail Somalia


ISTANBUL (A.A) - August 15, 2011 - A Turkish cargo ship was being loaded on Sunday with food and health supplies as part of Turkey's efforts to extend relief to to drought-stricken Somalia.
The cargo ship is loaded with 5 thousand tones of aid supplies and it is expected to arrive in Somali capital, Mogadishu, in ten days.
The cargo ship follows three cargo planes that have already airlifted tones of aid to Somalia in an aid campaign launched jointly by the Turkish Prime Ministry, the Turkish Red Crescent Society, Turkey's Development and Cooperation Agency, and the country's Religious Affairs Directorate General.
The Turkish donations have reached over 150 million Turkish liras.       
The aid to be delivered by the cargo ship includes tents, sanitary supplies, food, light work machines, an ambulance and four tones of humanitarian relief material.
