Turkish & Azerbaijani strategic research centers sign cooperation agreement
BAKU (A.A) - 07.03.2011 - Turkish and Azerbaijani centers for strategic research signed a cooperation agreement in Baku on Monday.
Representatives of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Research Center for Strategic Research and the Strategic Research Center of the Azerbaijani Presidency, as well as officials from the foreign ministries of Turkey and Azerbaijan attended the signing ceremony held in the Azerbaijani capital.
Speaking at the ceremony, Azerbaijani Strategic Research Center's deputy head Gulsen Pasayev said Turkey was Azerbaijan's closest ally and its most strategic partner.
Bulent Aras, chairman of the Turkish Research Center for Strategic Research, said in his part that the main goal of his visit to Azerbaijan was to sign an academic cooperation agreement and to develop a joint action plan between his institution and its Azerbaijani counterpart.
Aras said that Turkey and Azerbaijan had the necessary political will and available atmosphere to establish cooperation, besides, the two ally countries had common interests.
Pointing to the global and regional threats that concerned both countries, the chairman also noted that the two countries should conduct their relations at the highest level and in an integrated way under the current circumstances.
According to the cooperation agreement between the Turkish MFA's Research Center for Strategic Research and the Strategic Research Center of the Azerbaijani Presidency, the two institutions will exchange views on foreign policy, international relations, as well as global and regional security issues, moreover, they will organize a series of international meetings.
